You Have the Victory! | Pastor Neville McDonald

The Bible tells me Abraham had a nephew. This nephew and his family had gotten into a whole lot of trouble. They had moved to the city of Sodom and in that city, they had fallen captive to a group of enemy kings. These enemy kings had governed the region for 13 years.

This is interesting because 13 is a demonic number in scripture, generally speaking.

After 13 years, the city comes under attack and Lot (Abraham's nephew) and his family are captured. Abraham arms his own household, leads them to war and brings them back. When he brings them back, the Bible says that Abraham met with Melchizedek.

Melchizedek was the king of Salam. During this meeting, the king brought out bread and wine and blessed Abraham.

Genesis 14:20-22 says

"Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all.Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,”.

You'll notice in this passage, that Abraham made a declaration. He said that when it comes to prosperity, the only way out of poverty is to lift your hands to God and to believe God to bring you out of poverty.

Many times, people who are in poverty are too proud to receive. People who are too wealthy, many times are conceited because their wealth deceives them. Many hide in different fortresses. The educated man hides in his intellect, the wealthy man his in his finance, the poor man hides in his poverty and says that there is no way out.

Abraham says "I have lifted my hands to God, the possessor of Heaven and earth" If God possesses Heaven and earth, can He not meet your need?

I believe that not only can He, but He wants to.

Obedience opens the door to blessing and Abraham gave us the example.

The first time we read about tithing is when Abraham tithed in Genesis 20:14 because he recognized that when you tithe, God delivers the enemies into your hands.

I don't know what enemies you are facing today but when you tithe, you bring 10% of all the increase that God gives to you then God turns the battles on your enemies. He turns the situation around, turns the sickness around, turns the heartache around and turns the poverty around.

When you tithe, the first thing God does is He deals with your enemies.

"'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,' says the LORD of hosts, 'if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field castits grapes,' says the LORD of hosts.'All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,' says the LORD of hosts." Malachi 3:10-12
